 Dariush Vaziri, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dariush Vaziri, M.D., F.A.C.S. joined the Breast Health Clinic
in July of 2009 moving from New York State where he previously
practiced since 1981. Dr. Vaziri is a Board certified surgeon whose
practice is limited to breast surgery. He is a Fellow of the American
College of Surgeons as well as the International College of Surgery.
He is a member of several national medical organizations including
the American Society of Breast Surgeons. He has held a teaching
position as clinical Assistant Professor at the State University
of New York, Upstate Medical University. Dr. Vaziri originally
practiced general and vascular surgery. In mid 1990’s due to the new advancements in diagnosis and management of breast cancer and his personal interest and experience in management of breast conditions, he devoted most of his practice to the care of patients with breast cancer and other breast related conditions. A few years later he limited his practice to only breast care at Riverside Surgery & Breast Care practice in Johnson City, New York. He also served as a surgical consultant at the Breast Care centers of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, the Regional Cancer Center in Binghamton New York and United Health Services, a leading medical center in upstate New York located in Johnson City, New York. He has been very proactive in women’s health issues and in particular in utilization of the new technologies for minimally invasive breast interventions. Dr. Vaziri pioneered breast ultrasound procedures among the surgeons in his community in upstate New York. He was one of the leading surgeons in his community to utilize stereotactic technology to biopsy mammographically detected breast lesions by a minimally invasive approach. He has vast experience in breast ultrasound and stereotactic procedures and is among a select group of surgeons in the country who have been certified for above procedures by the American Society of Breast Surgeons. He has been an active member of this society serving at its breast ultrasound and imaging technology committee for many years. He has also served as a faculty member of this society teaching breast ultrasound and stereotactic procedures to other surgeons at their national conventions and seminars. Dr. Vaziri has also been involved in clinical trials. He was among the first group of surgeons in the country to participate in the clinical trial for accelerated partial breast irradiation using MammoSite Balloon. He was involved in the IPET clinical trial to determine the efficacy of utilization of INTACT biopsy device in removing the breast lesions showing atypical changes without additional surgery. He has been an advocate for early detection of breast cancer with a vision to ultimately being able to prevent development of breast cancer all together. |
